Frank Glover Creates New Band 'KIHLO'
If you know one thing about Frank Glover you know that he is one of the most innovative musicians around today. For over 20 years he has performed to critical acclaim as a duo with legendary pianist Claude Sifferlin. Although, Frank and Claude still perform together, Frank has set out upon a new adventure creating a new band with a new concept. Frank has expanded to a quartet and is using two recent graduates from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. The band consists of Frank Glover on tenor sax, Jack Helsley on bass (a mainstay of the Indianapolis jazz scene), Zach Lapidus on keyboard and Dave Scalia on drums. Not only is the instrumentation slightly different, but the tune sources are different as well. Most jazz musicians play music from the standard repertoire of jazz history. Frank is pulling tunes from a different source; popular music and modern jazz. This band is a highly innovative group. When Frank combines difficult, innovative music with virtuosic musicians, wonderful things can happen!
This summer, Frank plans on bringing this new group into the recording studio this summer and laying down some tracks for a future release on Owl Studios. It's always exciting to hear some innovative forward moving jazz! It's even more exciting to be the album company that supports and produces such an album. We'll keep you posted on the happenings of this project and other projects by Frank Glover.
